Bill of Rights for Assaulted Women

  1. I have the right not to be abused.
  2. I have the right to anger over past beatings.
  3. I have the right to change the situation.
  4. I have the right to freedom from fear of abuse.
  5. I have the right to request and expect assistance from the police and social agencies.
  6. I have the right to share my feelings and not be isolated from them.
  7. I have the right to want a better role model of communication for my children.
  8. I have the right to be treated like an adult.
  9. I have the right to leave the abusive environment.
  10. I have the right to privacy.
  11. I have the right to express my own thoughts and feelings.
  12. I have the right to develop my individual talents and abulities.
  13. I have the right to legally prosecute the abusing spouse.
  14. I have the right not to be perfect.
